Battelle is a world leader in science and technology
development supporting both commercial and government projects. Battelle's
National Security Global Business - Biomedical Science and Technology (BST)
Product Line (PL) specializes in providing research and development support to
clients engaged in medical defense against chemical and biological agents. The
Battelle Biomedical research Center (BBRC) has an opening for a Laboratory
Operations Trainer in their West Jefferson, Ohio facility.
All applicants will be expected to express their vision
and skills in "Developing and Managing a Training Program" and provide a 10-15
minute "training presentation" to the interview team on "Obtaining and Using a
Hunting License in Ohio." The presentation should provide the interview team
with "awareness" level information about Ohio Hunting License Regulations to
allow them to successfully determine if they need a hunting license under given
circumstances and how to obtain the license. Applicants should also develop a
quiz that demonstrates that the information was understood by the interview
team.
Primary Job Function:
- Responsible for planning, development,
presentation/facilitation and recordkeeping activities related to the Battelle
Biomedical Research Center technical training program.
Primary Duties:
- Assists in the determination of all
departmental skill and regulatory compliant-based training needs and
implements appropriate training programs.
- Defines training objectives. Provides input
into development and design of training, including sessions and supporting
materials.
- Coordinates, communicates and presents
education and training sessions.
- Evaluates the technical skill competency levels
within the department and provide training as needs are identified.
- Evaluates and follows-up on effectiveness of
all training.
- Ensures training of new and existing technical
staff is consistent, thorough, and documented.
- Works to understand the needs of the
organization through the conduct of training needs assessments for the
organization, departments and individuals.
- Partners directly with operations managers and
identified technical trainers to provide input into the design, development
and implementation of company and unit-wide on-the-job training programs.
- Researches, identifies, and responds with
creative yet realistic solutions to the training and development needs of the
organization.
- Maintains and applies knowledge of educational
training theories and techniques to sustain overall training effectiveness.
- Works collaboratively with Battelle Training &
Development organization to ensure that the training and training materials
meet quality standards.
- Maintains familiarity with outside vendors,
training programs and resources.
- Interfaces with internal compliance-related
groups to develop and manage training programs.
Required Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
- BS degree in Organizational Development or
appropriate scientific discipline
- Advanced knowledge of adult learning styles.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation
skills are required.
- Strong computer skills, including MS-Office
applications.
- 3-5 years experience supporting the development
and implementation of training programs in a regulated portion of the
biotechnology industry.
